Randy Bostick Permanently Barred from Securities Industry
This final action follows two previously disclosed customer disputes
Randy Bostick was barred from the securities industry following a suspension for failing to respond to a FINRA request for information.
According to the FINRA website, Bostick, who was most recently employed by Janney Montgomery Scott LLC at the time of his suspension, has two prior disclosures regarding customer disputes in his 14 years of practice in the industry.
In January 2014, Bostick’s firm reported a situation in which it rejected a claim from a customer that Bostick provided misleading information regarding municipal bonds. The firm denied the claim alleging the client had received comprehensive information on the bonds. At the time, Bostick already had a history with alleged mishandling of investor funds.
In December 2013, Bostick disclosed a customer dispute over damages of more than $17,000, a result of a series of alleged unauthorized transactions in September 2012. The dispute was settled outside of court for $9,000.
According to Bostick, the firm reached the settlement without his consent in an attempt to appease the customer and to avoid a lengthy and expensive legal battle. He maintained his innocence in a comment on the disclosure, blaming the client who was heavily involved in the account and alleging that they spoke several times a week. He pointed to the settlement as a catalyst in his eventual departure from Janney Montgomery Scott LLC.
