Several customer disputes led to the sanction against the former Cetera Advisors, LLC broker
As of June of 2016, Daniel Vasquez is no longer permitted to act as a broker. He was given a lifetime suspension from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) for not offering any information regarding several customer disputes.
In 1998, Vasquez began his career with Dean Witter Reynolds Inc. Over the next nine years, he worked for five other firms around the US: Paulson Investment Company, Inc. in Chicago; Brookstreet Securities Corp. in San Juan Capistrano, CA; PMB Securities Corp. out of Newport Beach, CA; SunAmerica Securities, Inc. in Phoenix; and AIG Financial Advisors, Inc. in Mission Viejo, CA.
In April of 2007, Vasquez relocated to Irvine, CA, and until May of 2016, he worked for six firms in the city, starting with Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. He then moved on to First Midwest Securities, Inc.; Associated Securities Corp.; Foothill Securities, Inc.; Investors Capital Corp.; and finally, Cetera Advisors LLC.
Over his 14-year career, Vasquez had several allegations made against him from clients, including unsuitability and misrepresentation. Unsuitability takes place when a broker makes a recommendation for an investment that doesn’t take into consideration the investor’s goals or financial situation. Misrepresentation occurs when a broker doesn’t disclose all material facts, provides unrealistic projection assumptions, or doesn’t conduct the right due diligence regarding an investment.
In addition to the numerous customer disputes, Vasquez has also had problems with the IRS which resulted in a $10,000 lien.
FINRA’s BrokerCheck report further chronicles the work history and charges against Vasquez.
